Preventing flange corrosion in outdoor tanks! On-site repair case using metal putty and rubber.

We would like to introduce a case of "flange corrosion on-site repair" conducted at a chemical plant. This work was carried out to prevent significant corrosion of the flange on an outdoor tank due to rain and other factors. The corroded areas were removed, and the flange was repaired with metal putty. After that, rubber was applied. [Construction Case] Important Metal Putty for the "Backing Plate Method" Recommended by the Civil Engineering Society

We would like to introduce a construction example using "wear-resistant metal," which is suitable for the "backing plate method" recommended by the Japan Society of Civil Engineers. We perform putty filling work using "wear-resistant metal" in the gaps of the corroded areas and finish the entire surface uniformly with a total putty application. Before the putty hardens, we quickly attach a steel plate and securely fix it with bolts. This significantly enhances the adhesion between the steel plate and the base material, allowing for durable repairs. Even for bridge components that have advanced corrosion and wear, reliable repairs can be achieved in a short period, minimizing traffic regulation time.
